The new Trump Tower in Vancouver seemed like the perfect place for Canadian protesters to set up and speak out against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday.
At noon, people from global political group Avaaz, parked a “Stop Trump” flat bed truck outside Trump Tower downtown to launch a campaign in an effort to get American expats living in Canada to register to vote.
According to the organization, about 8 million Americans live abroad, with about 1 million in Canada alone. The largest concentration of Americans in Canada is in Vancouver, but only 12 per cent of them vote.
One thing they did for sure was gain attention. With a Donald Trump impersonator wearing an oversized papier-mache head, and supporters' faces painted up, members of the organization set up to get expats registered.
Their online tool also allows for online registration.
