Province prepping for avalanches

Highway 1 will be closed in both directions for part of the week as colder weather approaches on the mountains.

On Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Highway 1 will be shut down from 43 kilometres east of Sicamous ot 9 km west of Revelstoke, according to DriveBC.

Crews will be working to install an avalanche control system at 3-Valley Gap.

Drivers in the area should be prepared to stop and should be on the lookout for signage and workers in the area.
