Some of Kelowna’s cutest four-legged friends are set to descend on the Laurel Packinghouse later this month.
The Okanagan Pet Expo will take over the historic downtown Kelowna venue on Sunday, May 26, with plenty of fun planned between 10 am and 4 pm.
That includes three brand new events that organizers say they’re “thrilled” to have added to the schedule this year.
The Hammock Hound Tiki Party will see pet owners dress up their pets in their best Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts for an island-inspired celebration.
“From charcuterie lunch for the owners to luau-themed treats for the pups, this event promises to be a paw-ty like no other,” organizers explained.
The So Fetch Pug Dash will put your pug’s speed to the test in a dash to the finish line, and it doesn’t matter whether your pup is a seasoned sprinter or first-time racer.
Finally, the WOW the Yard Weenie Waggle will feature the smallest dogs with the biggest hearts strut their stuff in an adorable parade.
There will be prizes for the best-dressed and most-spirited weiner dogs.
Rosanne Ting-Mak Brown, event producer, says the goal of the Okanagan Pet Expo is to create an inclusive and entertaining experience for people and their pets.
“We believe that the Hammock Hound Tiki Pawty, So Fetch Pug Dash, and Wow the Yard Weenie Waggle will add an extra layer of excitement to this year's festivities,” she explained.
Tickets must be purchased in advance to participate in these signature events, but the best part is that all the net proceeds will be donated to Paws it Forward.
The Okanagan Pet Expo will also feature a variety of vendors, speakers and activities for pets of all shapes and sizes.
