A 39-year-old Peachland man is facing sexual assault charges after allegedly breaking into a Kelowna home and inappropriately touching two women who were asleep in bed.
On August 23, at 8:45 p.m., the RCMP received a report of a break and enter and sexual assault that had been committed at a residence in the 1500 block of Highland Drive North in Kelowna.
According to police, the suspect, who didn’t know the victims, gained entry into the home through an open door.
When he walked inside, he found two woman asleep in the same room and touched them inappropriately.
The women were woke up, shocked, and reportedly confronted the man and demanded that he leave.
While the man was leaving, he passed one of the woman's boyfriend who had just returned home with his friend.
The men found out what had happened and ran outside to look for the suspect, who was last seen running east along Highland Drive North.
RCMP arrived on scene and contained the area. With the assistance of a police dog and witnesses, the suspect was found and arrested.
The victims were not physically injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect faces potential charges including, break and enter to commit an offence and sexual assault. He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
