Immigration is increasing Canada’s population at a rate we haven’t seen in nearly 30 years.
In just three months, from April 1, 2016 to July 1, 2016, the population rose 139,645 according to Statistics Canada numbers.
These type of increase hasn’t been recorded since 1988 when the population went up by 140,908 in one quarter.
This year’s increase is mainly attributable to the number of immigrants who have recently arrived in the country. According to Statistics Canada, 80,106 moved to Canada in the second quarter of 2016 alone.
As recorded July 1, 2016, Canada’s population now sits at 36,286,425. Last year on July,1,the population was 35,851,800, meaning it’s now up by 434,625.
